Children Who Witness Domestic Violence DVD Available Now

The Victoria Women’s Transition House is pleased to announce their educational DVD “Behind Closed Doors” is now available for purchase.

“Behind Closed Doors: Children Who Witness Domestic Violence” is a video whose primary audience is parents who have gone through or who are currently experiencing domestic violence.  It is designed to be viewed in the presence of professional facilitators. The facilitator’s role is an important one, in guiding the audience through discussion after the screening.

The content is driven by psychologist Dr. Sandra Wieland who explains some of the physiological processes of the brain that occur when children are impacted by domestic violence. She and another professional suggest strategies for both children and parents to counter the negative impact of witnessing violence.

For more information or to purchase a copy of “Behind Closed Doors”, please contact Heidi Gayleard at 250-592-2927 or email info@vwth.bc.ca.
