Safe Home Outreach Program for Seniors
I have hope!Women’s Counselling Program participant
The Safe Home Outreach Program provides support to older women as they navigate through the challenging barriers of establishing a new life. Working with a knowledgeable counsellor, women locate lawyers, prepare necessary documentation, apply for financial assistance, locate housing (either market or through BC Housing), secure banking and more.
Emergency shelter is provided both in the Shelter and in a safe home. Women stay in the safe home for up to 30 days. Safe home residents receive support, advocacy and counselling at the Transition House as well as the option to attend the Senior Women’s Support Group, which meets weekly. Call (250) 592-2927 ext. 223 for more information.

Harrison Place
Finding safe, affordable housing for women aged 45 - 65 is a challenge.
In April 2007 the Victoria Women’s Transition House Society opened Harrison Place, a 23-unit housing project for women between 45 and 65. It provides small, independent one-bedroom suites for such women living alone. This transitional housing (up to a maximum three years stay) offers a supportive environment and programming for women rebuilding their lives.
For more information about Harrison Place please call 250 385-2103.
Senior Women’s Support Group
Several types of support groups for women 50+ are offered on a regular basis throughout the year. These groups provide education, peer support, social networking and an opportunity to build friendships and establish new lives in the community. Please call 250-592-2927 ext. 223 for current information.
