VWTH Selected as Pilot Site to Reduce Barriers

Victoria Women’s Transition House was honored to be selected as one of three pilot sites for the Aboriginal Women Consultation Project which has a mandate to reduce barriers to support for women who have experience violence and to create a system where Aboriginal women feel more supported and that the support is appropriate and respectful of their lived experience.

Last week, VWTH staff  attended an intensive workshop on Reducing Barriers in order to develop a flexible model of service that is women-centred and identifies promising practices that will support Aboriginal women and their children when accessing transition housing programs.

We are excited to participate in this pilot and are thrilled to have resources and training to ensure we can implement the most promising practices to best serve women and children in our First Nations communities!
