200 bowls of nurturing and nourishing soups are prepared by Soup Sisters Victoria in partnership with The London Chef every month for women and children in the shelter at Victoria Women’s Transition House.
Founded in March 2009 by Calgarian Sharon Hapton, Soup Sisters support women’s shelters across the country with the very simple and heartfelt gesture of providing homemade soup. Soup Sisters is also deeply committed to raising awareness about domestic abuse and family violence. Soup Sisters launched in Victoria in March 2011 and has kept the women at our shelter nourished ever since. Sharon Hapton, Founder of Soup Sisters was named Chatelaine’s Woman of the Year in November 2011.
Victoria Soup Sisters events will usually be held on Monday evenings (unless moved for a holiday like May 1) from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at The London Chef, 953 Fort St. Victoria.
To ensure that a Soup Sisters event is a success, we need a minimum of 12 people and a maximum of 20 people. If you join as an individual or with a group of any size, the Soup Sisters team will match you up with a group to coordinate numbers and your preferred meeting night. Groups may be combined to reach the maximum of 20. There is a participant fee of $50.
We have room for you to join us on May 1, July 30 and Sept. 24, 2012.
