After 35 years of service to the community, there are a lot of stories to tell. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you a story about hope and healing.
Anna was 3-years old the first time she met with a children’s program counsellor at Victoria Women’s Transition House Society. The violence that Anna witnessed at an early age had become a serious behavioral concern. In daycare, Anna pushed, hurt, and yelled at other children. She needed to control the actions of classmates and situations. VWTH counselling staff helped Anna to recognize and express her emotions appropriately. Today, Anna is a much calmer and happier child.
By working with children and their families, Victoria Women’s Transition House Society program staff help to break the intergenerational cycle of violence against women and children.
We would like to commend our staff for their loyalty and dedication to this organization and our clients. Their compassion starts with the first phone call, visit or moment on the doorstep and does not end with the last goodbye. Our staff often hear from and keep in touch with clients they saw as children who have grown up to have healthy marriages and attend post-secondary schooling.
For 35 years children and their families have been helped to heal through programs offered at no cost in the Shelter and at our Community Office. These services could not be offered without financial help from the community.
We hope you will join our community by donating to our 35th Anniversary Campaign to End Violence Against Women. Go to the donation page to donate, or call us at (250) 592-2927.
Many thanks,
